July 2025 Marketo Updates: What They Mean for Your Marketing Ops Stack

Marketo’s July 2025 release brings a fresh wave of enhancements aimed at simplifying email creation, strengthening governance, and increasing transparency for Marketing Operations teams. At RightWave, we’re excited about the direction Adobe is taking with Marketo Engage—and what it means for the marketers we support.

Here’s a quick rundown of what’s new and why it matters to you:

Email Designer Gets Supercharged

The new batch of Email Designer features makes creating, editing, and managing email assets more flexible and user-friendly:

  • Custom CSS Support
Finally, more control! You can now inject your own CSS directly into emails for precise brand styling—no more workarounds.

  • Program Deletion and Asset Movement
Relocate email assets between programs or delete programs with designer emails without the usual hiccups.

  • Firefox Support
For teams using Mozilla Firefox, the Email Designer is now fully compatible.

  • Edit Published Email Properties
No need to unapprove or revert emails just to tweak properties. A huge time-saver!

  • Simulate Content from Properties Page
You can now simulate email content directly from the properties page—no more toggling in and out of editing mode.

  • Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
After introducing Edit, Approve, and Delete controls in May, the July update adds Read permissions—giving admins finer control over who sees what.

  • Select Branding Domains and IP Configurations per Email
More flexibility for enterprise orgs managing multiple brands or IPs within the same instance.

  • GenStudio Integration
This is big. GenStudio users can now tap into Adobe’s performance marketing muscle right inside the email editor—helping boost efficiency and brand consistency.

Platform Enhancements for Admins and Developers

  • REST API Error Notifications
Two new in-app error types (606 – Max Rate Limit, 607 – Daily Quota) help API users stay informed and responsive without constant manual checks.

  • View REST API Field Names in Field Management
No more CSV exports just to map field names—REST field names are now directly visible within the UI.

  • Program Member Field Management
Both standard and custom program member fields are now viewable in Field Management, adding much-needed visibility.

  • My Tokens Used By List
A long-awaited feature—Marketo now shows you which assets are using a My Token (up to 50 assets). Say goodbye to endless searching.

What It Means for You

These updates show that Adobe is taking usability, governance, and integration seriously. For Marketing Operations and Revenue Ops teams, that means:

  • Less time spent on rework and navigating complex UI flows

  • More control and governance in large, multi-user instances

  • Better visibility into fields, tokens, and API limits for cleaner operations

  • A smoother path for integrating tools like GenStudio for performance marketing
